Where we Work

Our Home Ground: Mendocino County’s Mountains and Meadows
Ethos Environmental’s work is rooted in the rugged beauty of Northern California’s Mendocino County—a land of steep forested ridges, winding creeks, and broad inland valleys. Here, redwood forests meet oak woodlands, and grassy meadows give way to the rocky headwaters that feed the Eel, Russian, and Navarro rivers. These mountains and meadows have long sustained rural families, small farms both cannabis and produce, ranches and generations of Indigenous peoples who have lived in rhythm with the land. The region’s mix of coastal fog, summer parched meadows, mountain rainfall, and varying soils makes it both ecologically diverse and deeply interconnected—every spring, hillside, and stream playing its part in the health of the whole.
Our work across this landscape is as varied as the land itself. From helping ranchers reduce erosion along seasonal creeks to cleaning up cannabis sites and restoring wetlands for wildlife, Ethos Environmental partners with local landowners to protect the soil and water that sustain rural life. We see Mendocino County not as a set of isolated projects, but as a living system—one that thrives when people care for it together. Whether we’re working in a redwood canyon or a sunlit meadow, our goal remains the same: to keep these lands strong, resilient, and full of life for the generations to come.
